LOUISBURG -- Funeral services for Mattie Estelle Horton Young, 87, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at the Louisburg Nursing Center, was held on Dec. 8 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James Jorton and the Rev. Casey Luther officiating.

Burial was in the Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Martha Hill Horton and John Bennett Horton, and was retired from Schrader Bellows Manufacturing in Wake Forest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Dykes Young, six brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Strickland of Louisburg; her son, Michael Young (Marie) of Louisburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
