LOUISBURG - Joyce Ann Strother Peoples, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord on August 9, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born in Louisburg on January 11, 1932, a daughter of the late Minnie Vick Conyers Strother and Harvey Ray Strother, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, V.A. Peoples, Sr., a sister, Betty Strother Fuller, and a brother, Harvey Ray Strother, Jr.; son-in-law, James Bottoms.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Louisburg Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Al Peoples (Marla); Larry Peoples (Ann), her daughters, Vickie Bottoms; Susan Peoples; Debra "Peanut" Sandling (Nat). In addition, she is survived by grandchildren: Amanda and Sarah Peoples, Kira Kroboth (Rusty) and Joni Peoples, Russell Bottoms (Amber), Jonathan Peoples, Davis Sandling, and Jamie Leigh Sandling-Davis (Scott); great-grandchildren, Asher and Elias Kroboth; Rylan Bottoms; brother, Robert Strother (Joyce); sister-in-law, Ava Strother; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fuller; many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was a long time member of the Louisburg Baptist Church. She was very active in her younger years, typing the church bulletin, printing it on a manual mimeograph machine, and folding them before every service. She also served by keeping the nursery and being a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. Joyce made it a point to have the family at church each and every Sunday. At one time, when her oldest child was about nineteen years old, the five children had a combined 55 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. She had all of those pins placed in a frame and kept them on a wall in her home.

Joyce also ran a small business for a few years after the youngest child graduated from high school. She then worked for BB&T for 29 years before her retirement.

Joyce loved softball, until in her early fifties. After her retirement, Joyce traveled quite a bit, visiting all states but Hawaii. In her later years, she would visit the rest home after church on Sunday and spend time with everyone that she knew. She loved everyone...and everyone loved her...
