MARY SPIVEY WOOTEN


SANFORD - Mary Spivey Wooten, 89, of Sanford, formerly of Franklinton, died on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Tara Plantation in Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 4) at White Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Cameron Cemetery.

A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late John Byrd and Christian Clyde Spivey. During WWII, she was a machinist at Fort Bragg, and later worked at Sara Lee Sock Company in Franklinton.

She was preceded in death also by her husband, the late Kenneth Wooten; a son, Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Wooten; and by three sisters and five brothers.

Surviving are two brothers, William M. (Bill) Spivey and Russell Spivey, both of Sanford; several nieces and nephews.
