LLOYD A. WEST


LOUISBURG - Lloyd Avery West, 92, died Saturday morning, Sept. 19, 2015 at his home. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon, Sept. 21, at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

He was born in Franklin County to the late George Brantley West and Lillie Gupton West. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII. He retired from Gurley Milling Co. as a grain broker. As a dedicated lifetime member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, he held many positions and served as the choir director for 37 years. He also served on the Franklin County Board of Education for 25 years.

Surviving: his sons, Donnie West of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Kenny West (Jackie) of Emerald Isle; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Daphine Cash West; brothers, George M. West and Hal T. West; sisters, Priscilla Hight and Helen Dickens.
