LOUISBURG - Leona Burnette Thompson, 85, of Louisburg, died Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Thompson was a daughter of the late James William and Estelle Faulkner Burnette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Thompson; daughter, Kathy Kessler; grandson, Tony Edwards; brother, Clarence Burnette.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Faulkner Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Patricia J. Wheeler of Youngsville; grandchildren, Lisa Chappell and husband, Jeff of Sanford; Jamie Cash and husband, Van of Louisburg; stepdaughter, Stephanie Thompson of Garner; stepsons, Norris Thompson of Beaufort, SC; Charles Taylor of Wake Forest; 7 great-grandchildren.
