RALEIGH - Mamie P. Privette, 68, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Raleigh. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 8, at Grace A.M.E. Church in Raleigh. Eulogy was by Overseer R.W. Rowland.

She was born in Franklin County to the late Johnnie Melvin Jones and Pearl Princess Lillian Strickland Jones. She was educated in the Franklin County public schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Privette of Franklin County.

Surviving: children, Myra Holloway (Charles), Gregory Privette and Lavern Whitaker (Joseph), all of Raleigh; sister, Alla Jane Madison of Bridgeport, Conn.; brother, Johnnie M. Jones Jr. (Lelia) of Bridgeport, Conn.; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
