FRANKLINTON - Elsie Angela Dorine Harris Massenburg, 80, died Saturday, July 9, 2016. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 16, at First Baptist Church Franklinton, with the Rev. André Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Franklinton.

She was born to the late James O. Harris and Elsie Baptiste Harris in Franklinton. She was educated in the Franklin County school system and graduated from North Carolina College (now North Carolina Central University), Durham, in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Business. After graduating, she married Joseph E. Massenburg.

She was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Newark, N.J., for one year and by the U.S. Treasury Department/ Internal Revenue Service in Newark for 30 years as a personnel specialist.

After moving to Franklinton in 2000, she joined First Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and also in other capacities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Massenburg, and one son, Joseph Kevin Massenburg.

Surviving: son, Gerald Dorian Massenburg (Hilda) of New Jersey; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
