SPRING HOPE - Philip Orren Sykes, 90, of the Justice Community, died Wednesday afternoon, July 19, 2017.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at Duke Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Peachtree Baptist Church cemetery.

Philip was a son of the late James Aster and Laura Bass Sykes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Dean Sykes, and several sisters and brothers. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired farmer.

Surviving: sons, Phil Sykes of Wake Forest, Jeff Sykes (Denise)of Nashville; daughter, Jane Hackett (Bill) of Wake Forest; brothers, Bobby Sykes (Janice) of Spring Hope and Hassell Sykes of Tennessee; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
