FRANKLINTON--Philip Franklin Whitfield, 90, died Saturday, July 22, 2017. Services will be private.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1926 to the late James Edward and Mary Wortham Whitfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Leah McFee.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a livestock farmer.

Surviving: his wife, Sarah Holmes Whitfield; and several nieces and nephews.
