LOUISBURG--Chester M. Smith Jr., 73, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at Brantwood Nursing Home. Graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Epsom, with Pastor Frank Sossoman officiating.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1943 to the late Chester M. and Mamie Wester Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Smith. Chester lived most of his life in Franklin County.

Surviving: daughter, Linda Smith Pendergrass (Ricky); one sister, Janie S. Kemp (Abe); one brother, James Smith (June); and one granddaughter.
