GERALD S. FLEMING III


SCOTLAND NECK - Pastor Gerald Shelby Fleming III, 58, formerly of Louisburg, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at his home. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, July 17, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Orangeburg, S. C., with the Rev. Darrell Wilkins and the Rev. Gene Rowell presiding. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 18) at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with full military rites.

He was born in Rocky Mount, son of Gladys Adcock Fleming and the late Gerald S. Fleming Jr. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force, having served in Vietnam. He was pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church.

Surviving: his wife, Judith Baisey Fleming; sons, Gerald Shelby Fleming IV of Lawndale, Mark A. Fleming of Whitakers, and Jonathan D. Fleming of Columbia, S. C.; daughters, Judith L. Wingard of Springfield, S. C., and Rebecca A. Carson of Orangeburg, S. C.; mother, Gladys A. Fleming of Scotland Neck; sisters, Vicky Hicks of Henderson and Annette Coxe of Rock Hill, S. C.; brothers, Russ Fleming of Whitakers, Gary Fleming of Kansas City, Kan., and Cary Fleming of Kenly; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in North Carolina from 1 to 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
