ERNEST H. MAJOR


RALEIGH - Ernest Henry Major, 68, a resident of Spring Arbor Assisted Living and a former resident of Franklinton, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at Wake Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 28, at St. James Catholic Church by Father Bill Upah. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Washington, D. C. on Dec. 6, 1938, he was the son of Cecile Trudeau Major of South Attleboro, Mass., and the late Ernest C. Major. He was a retired professional engineer, retiring from IBM with 27 years of service, and from Keihin Carolina System Technology, Inc. in Tarboro. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Henderson, a member of the Knights Of Columbus, and the American Institute of Industrial Engineers.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle J. Goode and Susan M. Skipper, both of Raleigh; one brother, Arthur Major of Denver, Colo.; and two sisters, Lucille M. Fontaine and Annette M. Fanning, both of South Attleboro, Mass.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Anne Missik Major.
