WAKE FOREST - Lena Zula Pearce Smith, 97, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at Hillside Nursing Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 20) at Woodland Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Seedorf and the Rev. Dwight Savage officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was born in Wake County, daughter of the late Clovenia Wilkes Pearce and Wesley Pearce, and was preceded in death by her husband, Waylon Smith.

Surviving: her children, Edna Turner (John) of Castalia, Venie Terrell (Gene) of Mebane, Janie Harp, Deborah Weaver (John), Russell Smith (Linda), all of Wake Forest, Wayne Smith (Alice) of Clayton, Steve Allen (Janet) Edward Allen (Dale) of Wake Forest; sisters, Katie Allen of Stem, Viola Rigsby of Snow Hill and Odell Rigsby of Wilton; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
