GLADYS W. WATKINS


HENDERSON - Gladys Wrenn Watkins, 94, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Senior Citizens Nursing Home. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, May 6, at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Tim Burgess.

Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Cleveland Wrenn and Minnie Woodlief Wrenn, and was the widow of Allen Joseph Watkins. She was a retired dental assistant for Dr. John Kinlaw.

Surviving: a daughter, June Watkins Blanks of Henderson; a son, Eugene A. Watkins (Lorraine) of Henderson; sisters, Ella W. Bailey, Myrtle C. Wrenn, Dorothy W. Clay, Mildred W. Smith and Jean W. Johnson, all of Louisburg, and Lillian W. Pennisi of Raleigh; brothers, Mac Wrenn and James Wrenn, both of Louisburg; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Hartwell Watkins; two sisters, Eunice W. Spencer and Lona W. Ayscue; and a brother, George R. Wrenn.
