REUBEN VANN BUNN



SPRING HOPE - Reuben Vann Bunn, 76, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was born in Franklin County on August 20, 1931, the son of Charlie Buck Bunn and Mary Magdalene Bowden. He graduated from Edward Best High School and served in the Korean War. He was employed by Corning Glassworks and AVX Corp. for 29 years. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, trustee and other committees as the Lord called. Reuben enjoyed music and loved his family dearly. In his retirement, he was a proud member of the 765th Railway Battalion Army reunion get-togethers and travel with his fellow Korean Veterans. Reuben faithfully served his country, his family and was one of the Lord’s peacemakers: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 wonderful years, Betty Pridgen Bunn of Spring Hope, one son, Terry V. Bunn & wife Morgan of Raleigh, one daughter, Sheryl Bunn Ames & husband, Clifton, of Bethlehem, PA., and five grandchildren that he dearly loved, Tyler, Kate & Harrison Bunn, Cole Gupton and Nicholas Ames. He is also survived by one brother, Ted Wilson Bunn and wife Lillian of Louisburg and was preceded in death by his brother, Wille Floyd Bunn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, so very dear to his heart.

Visitation was held at Cornerstone Funeral Home Tuesday, July 1, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Duke Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Edge officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the building fund of Duke Memorial Baptist Church.
