RALEIGH - Miriam Norris Perry Harris, 85, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Clements Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham.

She was born in Franklin County to the late James Ollie and Berma Richardson Perry. She retired from Southern Bell Company after 30 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peyton J. Harris; brothers, Wesley Perry, Dumas Perry and Douglas Perry.

Surviving: son, Paul J. Harris (Diane) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; daughter, Laura H. Ferguson (David) of Raleigh and Gloria H. Faress (Jim), also of Raleigh; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 23) at Clements Funeral Home, 1105 Broad Street, Durham.
