CREEDMOOR - James William Mangum Sr., 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 30, at Rock Spring United Church of Christ, Creedmoor, with the Rev. Veola Johnson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

He was born to the late Iverson and Esther Bailey Mangum. He was a lifetime resident of Granville County and was a farmer and a handyman.

He was married to the late Ruth Keith Mangum. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Mangum Jr., five sisters and one brother.

Surviving: children, Albert (Ellen) Mangum of Creedmoor and Toni Mangum of Durham; brother, Iverson (Rose) Mangum of Bronx, N.Y.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
