SGT. WILLIAM M. DAVIS


WARRENTON - Sgt. William Mack “Jack” Davis, 61, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham.

There will be no viewing. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, from 7-8 p.m. in the Brown’s Funeral Services, Inc. Chapel, 310 E. Macon St., Warrenton. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at Fork Chapel Baptist Church in the Inez community by the Rev. Luther Alston, Jr. Burial with military rites will follow in the Davis family cemetery in the Liberia community.

He was the son of the late Jobe and Ida Mae Davis. He joined Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he served as a deacon. Following graduation from John R. Hawkins High School, he served in the U.S. Army, achieved the rank of E-5 Sgt., and received an honorable discharge. Before becoming disabled, he was a brick mason.

Surviving: daughters, J. Denise Davis of Louisburg, Teshekia W. Harris of Richmond, Va., and Fyeeta J. Davis of Fayetteville; three sisters, Christine F. Davis-Patterson of Temple Hill, Md., Sue Davis-Westmoreland (Stanley) of Alpharetta, Ga., and Georgia D. Davis-Leggett (Ron) of Brandywine, Md.; two brothers, Norris C. Davis (Devonne) of Richmond, Va., and Phillip M. Davis of Warrenton; and four grandchildren.
