RALEIGH - Vivian Mae Wiggins, 93, formerly of Youngsville, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at Mayview Convalescent Center after a brief illness. Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 22, at St. John’s Baptist Church, Raleigh. A private graveside service followed at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.

She was born to the late Otis and Minnie Wiggins. She worked for the State of North Carolina for more than 35 years and upon her retirement was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Marshall O. Wiggins, Emmett E. Wiggins Sr., and G. Dewey Wiggins.

Surviving: nieces and nephews, Winston “Twig” Wiggins (Sarah), Russell E. Wiggins (Ardy), Emmett E. Wiggins Jr. (Laura), Candace W. Finley (Bill), Phil Wiggins (Debra), Fran W. Donavant (Bill), and Bruce R. Wiggins (Karen); a host of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s Baptist Church Building Fund, 1615 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27608.
