Sheriff’s deputies are looking for suspects who vandalized a car and painted it with gang graffiti.
The driver is a family member of a convicted murderer and known gang member.

Commissioners to review water plant appraisal
Franklin County commissioners are expected to review an appraisal on Monday night that suggests they would need to spend more than $4 million to buy Franklinton’s water and sewer system.
Franklinton and Franklin County have been embroiled in a dispute since the town shut off water service to the county in September because of drought conditions.

A Louisburg woman charged with embezzlement avoided jail time by paying restitution and getting words of approval from the insurance company she stole from.
Judy Allen also received favor from Superior Court Judge Lucy Inman, who agreed to accept the plea and remit some court fees after hearing of the spiral that led Allen to steal money and tread on the trust of insurance customers.

National Night Out scheduled for Aug. 2
Last year, Franklinton tinkered with the date it celebrated National Night Out, hoping for a bigger turnout.
This year, they’re back to the traditional date — the first Tuesday in August.
Louisburg organizers never fiddled with the date and will host activities this coming Tuesday at Riverbend Park, between 6 and 8 p.m. But they said the spirit of the event is not just for one night a year.

Franklin Regional Medical Center and its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service has been nationally accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The three-year, gold seal of accreditation is only awarded to facilities that represent the highest level of patient safety and diagnostic image quality, hospital officials said.

In June, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board agreed by unanimous decision to recommend that county commissioners use $145,000 in designated funds to build a ball field for children with special needs.

FRANKLINTON — One set of changes down. One more to go.
Earlier this month, the town’s board of commissioners agreed to make two changes to how it operates in an attempt to maximize service with a dwindling work force.
The first change was to create a voice mail system for Town Hall, moving customers through a computerized system to get them the help they needed without tying up employees.
