It’s been hard to avoid all of the hullabaloo this week from angry air travelers, upset from what they call invasive safety checks put in place by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Mark this down as another example of a well-intentioned task force that studied an issue, came up with a conclusion everyone had already reached but failed to answer the larger questions behind the primary question. We marvel that it took so long for so many on the legislative task force to come to the obvious conclusion that governance of the teachers and state employees’ State Health Plan needs to be moved from current legislative oversight.

Cherry Hill concert will feature seasonal jazz and classical music
A mixture of light classics and seasonal jazz music will be featured in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at historic Cherry Hill in the Warren County community of Inez.
Pianist Daniel Steinert will be returning for the fourth year in a row and will be joined by the husband-wife team of Brian Koser, soprano and saxophonist and his wife, Pamela, a soprano. It will be the Kosers third visit to Cherry Hill.

CC Celebrates Championship
YOUNGSVILLE -- For the first time in the school’s 13-year history, the Cedar Creek Jaguars have won the MAC-9 Football Championship.
In their final regular season game earlier this month, the Jaguars defeated Hawley by a 29-14 margin to secure the crown.
Cedar Creek closed at 7-1 overall, which was good enough for a tie for the top spot with Henderson Middle School.

LC squads rack up hoops conquests
LOUISBURG -- Jeremy Atkinson’s double-double sparked the Louisburg College Hurricanes to a victory last Saturday in their Region X Division II opener.
Atkinson, a sophomore from Wilson Fike, poured in 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Hurricanes soared to an 87-61 decision against Catawba Valley.

On Sunday, Nov. 14, New Life Church had a special service at 10 a.m. honoring seven different law enforcement agencies. Franklinton officials sent out a more than $61,000 water bill on Monday that county officials have no intention of paying.
Both the town and county remain embroiled in a dispute about the validity of a 40-year water contract.
County officials and staff say the town’s decision to cut them off during a drought in September rendered the contract void.
