ZEBULON - Ruth Strickland Jeffreys, 81, died Monday, July 6, 2009. Funeral service was Thursday, July 9, at Thanksgiving Baptist Church. Burial was in the Wise-Jeffreys Cemetery.

She was born in Nash County, daughter of the late Johnnie and Mary Nancy Bryant Strickland. She was a retired beautician and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Warren Jeffreys; a sister, Lunell Stone; and a brother, Fred Strickland.

Surviving: children, Alan Jeffreys (Connie), Ray Jeffreys, Nell J. Gay (William), Ann J. Driver (Mike); sister, Judy Richardson (Troy); brother, J.D. Strickland (Diane), all of Zebulon; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Thanksgiving Baptist Church, 6701 NC 42 East, Selma, NC 27576.
