DAVID T. “D.T.” STROTHER, SR.
APRIL 12, 1937 – JULY 7, 2009


LOUISBURG - David Thomas “D.T.” Strother, Sr., 72, of Louisburg, died Monday, July 6, 2009, in Duke Raleigh Hospital.  Graveside services were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Gupton Family Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Alice Gupton Strother; daughter, Ava S. Galebach and husband, Carl Galebach; grandson, Wyatt Galebach, all of Epsom; son, David T. Strother, Jr., and wife, Reneé Strother of Louisburg; granddaughter, Courtney S. West and husband, Josh West of the Katesville community and expecting one great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Hunter Strother; sister, Ada Mae Strother; brothers, Sam, Preston G. and William Strother.  He is also survived by his brother, Harry Strother and wife, Vanessa of Franklinton; sisters, Marie Ernesti, Josephine Lockman and husband, Al of Satellite Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Elaine Burton and husband, Jim; brother-in-law, Ronnie Gupton and wife, Betty, Donald Gupton and wife, Merline all of Wilmington; many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. 

The family received friends Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.

The flag in front of the funeral home was flown at half-staff in honor of Mr. Strother’s service to his country where he served in the Air Force.
