KITTRELL - Phyllis Grissom DeMent, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ by the Revs. Robert Kelley and Tammy Ayscue. Burial followed in the Weldon-DeMent family cemetery, NC Hwy. 39 South.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Wyche Grissom and Lallie Pulley Grissom, and was the widow of Durwood Wilson DeMent. She was retired from Revco Distribution Center.

Surviving: daughters, Janet D. Anstead and Brenda D. Clary, both of Kittrell; a sister, Eunice G. Perkinson of Wake Forest; a brother, Millard Grisson of Kittrell; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Durwood DeMent; a daughter, Terry Lynn DeMent; and two brothers, Willard Grissom and Vernon “Sonny” Grissom Jr.
