DURHAM - Jimise Skillman Hunt, 72, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Croasdaile Village Retirement Community. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, March 6) at Clements Funeral chapel in Durham, with the Rev. Bess Hunnings Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

She was born in Atlanta, Ga., the daughter of the late Amelia Louise Yurt Joyner and the late William Vernon Skillman. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Leon Joyner.

Prior to her retirement, she worked at Bethesda Elementary School as a teacher’s aide and later retired from the VA Hospital after 20 years of service.

Surviving: husband, Douglas Edward Hunt; daughter, Jackie H. McMichael (Mike) of Franklinton; sons, Jeffrey Douglas Hunt of Hilton Head, S.C., Michael W. Hunt of San Francisco, Calif.; stepbrother, Leon Joyner of High Point; stepsister, Emily Poteat of Hickory; and three grandchildren.
