HORACE S. PACE


RALEIGH - Horace Sygmund Pace, 94, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at his home. Funeral services with military  honors will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, Aug. 28) at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private.

He was born in Franklin County, son of the late Robert and Beulah Mullen Pace of the Pine Ridge Community.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Winn Dixie Stores in 1978 and the Angus Barn in 2001. He and his wife, Lou, were members of Emmanuel Baptist Church since its beginning in 1950.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Tant Pace, and also by three brothers and four sisters.

Surviving: sons, Bob Pace and Tim Pace of Raleigh; daughters, Dianne Charter (Russ) of Sneads Ferry, Kathy Keith (Larry) of Cary;  and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250  Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 2100 Noble Road, Raleigh, NC 27608.

Arrangements are by Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.
