CLAYTON - Herman S. “Pete” Barbrey Jr., 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at Universal Healthcare. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Clay Hill Cemetery in Charity.

He was born in Duplin County, the son of the late Herman Sutton Barbrey Sr. and Ruby Catherine Rouse Barbrey.

He was a veteran with the U.S. Navy and was a retired pharmacist with Kerr Drug.

Surviving: children, Avis Greenwood (Craig) of Youngsville, Amy Marx (Tony) of Wendell, Ann Owens (Dennis) of Louisburg and Herman S. “Pete” Barbrey III and Charlsie Parker of Hopkins; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson; long-time companion, Leila Berry; several special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Barbrey, Betty West and Jean Galloway.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. White St., Wake Forest.
