LOUISBURG - Funeral services for Oliver “Diggy Wiggy” Newell, 85, who died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Perry’s Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.

Surviving: daughters, Catherine Gupton, Delois Newell and Geraldine Newell, all of Louisburg, and Jerfene Durham of Raleigh; sons, Oliver Newell Jr. of Greensboro, Cornelius Newell Sr. of Louisburg and Gene Newell of Winston-Salem; sister, Emma Carroll of Wake Forest; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
