FUQUAY-VARINA - Ruby Johnson Ransdell, 98, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 16, at Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church. Entombment followed at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Franklin County, daughter of the late Corey Johnson and Lucretia King Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, N. F. Ransdell.

After graduating from Hardbarger Business School, she worked for a number of years as a secretary in the Register of Deeds office in Raleigh. She later worked as secretary in her husband’s law office until he retired.

Surviving: stepdaughter, Sylvia Ransdell Thompson (Earl) of Marlborough, Conn.; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews.
