REV. JAMES A. WILLIAMS


KITTRELL - The Rev. James Alvin Williams, 91, a former resident of Louisburg Manor, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Carolyn Roy and the Rev. Bud Budzinski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born in Pender County, the son of the late Alvin Shaw Williams and Annie Thompson Williams. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a retired minister, a retired member of the North Carolina Methodist Conference and a member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving: daughter, Kay Williams Deans (James) of Kittrell; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Lowe Williams.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 8:30 at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of James and Kay Deans at 2151 Kittrell Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Darlene Ranes, 2120 South Lynnbank Road, Kittrell, NC 27544.
