BATH, N.C. - George T. “Sonny” High, 84, died Thursday June 7, 2012.   A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was born in Washington, NC, graduated from Washington High School and East Carolina University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he entered the insurance business, eventually owning an independent agency office in Chapel Hill. He was a member of Bath Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Kilby High.

Surviving: sons, Tom (Beth) of Chapel Hill and Jay (Janie) of Prescott, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
