FRANKLINTON  —   Mary P. Kearney, 88, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Granville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday,  March 31, at Franklinton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Averette, the Rev. Clyde Waiden and the Rev. Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

She was born in Franklin County, daughter of the late Molly Florence Vaughn Pearce and Ollie Cato Pearce, and was preceded in death by her husbands, John W. Wheelous Jr. and George D. Kearney Sr.

Surviving: daughter; Harriet W. Hartsfield (Richard D. “Rick” Jr.) of Franklinton; sons,  John W. Wheelous III of Fayetteville, George D. Kearney Jr. (Kim) of Raleigh; a sister, Doris P. Merritt of Oxford; two grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:30-8:30 Saturday evening, March 29, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main St., Wake Forest.
