APEX - Sallie Mitchell Horton, 96, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013. A memorial service was held Thursday, March 28, at Bells Baptist Church. Burial was private in the church cemetery.

She was born in Franklin County to the late Henry and Lois Mitchell. She was a high school home economics teacher until she retired in 1979.

Surviving: daughter, Elaine Matthews (Larry) of western Wake County; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eustace Horton, and a daughter, Julia Arnold.
