YOUNGSVILLE - Ruth Mae Keith White, 97, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Oaks of Mayview in Raleigh. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 1, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Chafton and the Rev. Julian Motley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was an active member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church as long as her health allowed, where over the years she served in many areas, including:   church treasurer, choir member, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher.   After graduating from Wake Forest High School, she attended business school in Charlotte and returned home to marry Howard Samuel White in 1936. 

Surviving: children:  Gerald White (Sarah), Beverly Shearon (Cameron Edwin), Ellen Tharrington (Donnie), Patsy Bradley (Mike); her sister,  Dorothy Perry of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Samuel White; her parents, John A. and Maude Keith; brothers, Raymond, Graham, Jack, and John E. Keith; and by her sisters,  Ruby Stephenson, Lottie Pearce, and Lucille Thompson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 63, Youngsville, NC 27596, for either the Lottie Moon Mission Fund, or the church’s Building Fund.
