HENDERSON - Maxine Tharrington Newton, 93, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in a local nursing home. Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 12, at Sunset Gardens with the Rev. Ralph McGowan officiating.

Born in Dewitt, Va., she was the daughter of the late Mack Tharrington and Josie Smith Tharrington. She was a retired employee of Com-Fo Hosiery Mill.

There are no survivors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Newton; one brother, Russell; and one sister, Ruth.
