RALEIGH - Elizabeth Dolittle Masson died Saturday, June 22, 2013. She was a former resident of Lake Royale.

Liz was born in Aylmer, Canada, the youngest daughter of Daisy and Neal Doolittle.  After graduating from college, Liz worked as a journalist with the Windsor Star newspaper.  While on assignment for the paper, she met her future husband, George Masson.  During her marriage to George, Liz had four children and traveled the world.

Liz’s true loves were books, acting, children, nature, and animals. Liz had a wry sense of humor and a whimsical enjoyment of life.  She was a life-long learner, who reveled in the written word. Her family will always cherish the memory of Liz curled up with a good book or a crossword puzzle.  

Liz leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Alice DeLaney Svehaug, George Masson III, James Masson, and Patricia Kauth; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Liz’s life will be held on June 29, 2013, at the Verandah at Johnson Lake in Raleigh, NC at 10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
