NORFOLK, VA - Janet Griffin Turner of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Franklin County, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013. A funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 7, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Norfolk. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Spencer and the Rev. Richard Conrad officiating.

She attended Louisburg College after graduating from Gold Sand High School. After college, she moved to Norfolk. She was employed by Western Union for 10 years and by General Motors for 30 years as a bookkeeper.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rufus B. Turner, and her parents,  Johnnie and Susie Griffin.

Surviving: brothers, AT Griffin (Camilla), Jack Griffin (Carolyn), and Scott Griffin (Kathy); sisters, Jill Griffin Gupton and Patsy Griffin Nicholson (CJ), all of Franklin County; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
