YOUNGSVILLE - Reuben Fox Cannady, 76, of Youngsville, died on December 20, 2013. 

He was the son of the late Jones Macon Cannady, Sr. and Tempie Mitchiner Cannady. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jones Cannady, Jr. and wife Lucy; Nathaniel Cannady; brother-in-law, Perry Wheless. He is survived by his brothers, Clyde Cannady (Betty) of Raleigh; Fes Cannady (Frances) of Aurora, CO; sisters, Betty Wheless of Fuquay-Varina; Ann Ijames (Steve); sister-in-law, Diana Cannady, all of Franklinton. He loved his many nieces and nephews but was especially close to his niece, Elizabeth Ijames of Youngsville.

A graveside service was held at the family cemetery on Will Mitchiner Rd at 2 pm on December 22, 2013. The family also received friends after the service.

Reuben was an artist.  He graduated from Richmond Professional Institute. He taught art in the Maryland public schools for 32 years.  After his teaching career, he retired to his home in Franklin County and became an avid gardener. He applied his artistic talents to his gardens and produced beautiful flower gardens at his home in Youngsville and at the Cannady family homestead.
