LOUISBURG - Dorothy Wester Champion, 86, of Louisburg died Friday, January 03, 2014 at Franklin Oaks Nursing Center.  Born on September 6, 1927 to the late Forest Smith and Merle Bailey Wester.  She was preceded in death by her son, Cameron W. Champion. 

Dorothy was a hard worker all of her life and she retired from the NC Department of Labor with 30 years of service.   She also worked at Wake Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Reydon Akkerman of Louisburg; her brother and sister-in-law, William Donald and Janet Wester of Louisburg; her nieces and nephews, Lawrence Dorsey, Allison Grant, Barry Wester, Leonard Wester and Hope Wester.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel with the Rev. Jason Havens officiating.  Entombment will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Maple Springs Baptist Church, 1938 NC Hwy. 56 E., Louisburg, NC 27549.
