YOUNGSVILLE - Hazel Conyers Rice, 85, of Youngsville died Sunday, January 26, 2014, at her home. Born September 8, 1928 to the late Ruby Exum and John Clarence Conyers, Sr.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, B.B. Smith and Spencer Rice.  In addition to an insurance agency, she and Mr. Smith she also owned a Tastee Freeze in SC until they moved back to be closer to family. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and Oak Level Christian Church, where she once sang in the choir and faithfully worked with the children. 

Her dog, Sweetie was her child.  She is survived by six nephews, Gordon, David, Danny, John, Wayne and Jeff Conyers; two nieces, Janet Gardner and Debra Melaragno; and many great-nieces and nephews.  The family would like to also give thanks to her two special caregivers, Donna Lee and Lacy Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Level Christian Church with Pastor Mike Edwards and Pastor Gary Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
