FRANKLINTON - Ray McArthur Alston, 70, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion of Durham. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, at Hawkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Franklinton, with the Rev. Walter S. Taylor officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Born in Franklinton, he was the son of the late Marguerite Alston. He was a 1964 graduate of B. F. Person Albion High School of Franklinton. He was employed by the State of North Carolina, retiring in 2005, and was also employed part-time for many years at EPA as a security officer. He was a member of Hawkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Usher Board, Male Chorus and Deacon Board.

Surviving: wife, Ejanice Fogg Alston of the home; children, Lisa N. Alston (Q. Irving) of Raleigh and Kevin T. Alston of Decatur, Ga.; sister, Roslyn A. Davis of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren; one aunt; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
