ANN MARIE TURNER

FRANKLINTON - Ann Marie Turner. a resident of Franklinton, NC, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Transitions Life Care, Raleigh, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. from Gethsemane Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2525 Sanderford Road, Raleigh, NC 27610; Dr. Larry E. Johnson and Pastor Herbert Anderson, officiating.

Ann was born in Montgomery, AL to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Anna Dukes) Johnson on January 15, 1926.

As a young adult, she moved to New York, NY, where she realized her educational pursuit by attending the Washington Business Institute. Upon graduation, she was afforded several employment opportunities where she could utilize her business skills. She retired from a productive business career in 1996 and moved to Franklinton, NC. In 2000, she was employed at North Carolina State University, where she served as customer service representative in the cashier’s office. She retired from this position in 2011.

Ann was a faithful, dedicated and supportive member of the Franklinton Seventh-day Adventist Church, Franklinton, NC. She supported her church with her presence, her gifts and her influence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Anna Johnson; her two sons, Charles and William Bateman, and her god-daughter, Renee Talmadge; three brothers, Charlie, Eddie and Carnell; two sisters, Hazel Nell and Jean.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty-five years, Mr. William Turner, Franklinton, NC; one son, Richard (Ernestine) Bateman, New York, NY; one sister, Laura (Bennie) Smith, Montgomery, AL; one brother William (Mary) Johnson, Columbus, OH, one daughter-in-law, Melba Bateman, Montgomery, AL; two grandsons, Charles and William Bateman; one granddaughter Arnett (Antoine) Davis, one goddaughter, Marsha (Terry) David, Roger, AR; six great-grandchildren, Troi, Christina, Charles and William Bateman, Kiara Richardson and Kyla Davis, two sisters-in-law, Major Carrie Turner (Retired, U.S. Army) and Carolyn (Joyce) Turner; and her best friend of 61 years, Roxanna Talmadge, Stone Mountain, GA.

Ann was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her biological and extended family, she will be missed by her Franklinton and Gethsemane Church families.
