LOUISBURG - Ruth Marie Gupton, daughter of A. Dewey Gupton and Mary Lou Brewer Gupton, born August 10, 1933, has passed away in Washington, D.C.

She is survived by two sisters, Agnes Gupton Leonard of Centerville and Raye Gupton Strickland of Bunn; a nephew, Jerry Strickland of Cary, a niece, Patricia Dodson, of Bunn; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her two nephews, Tommy Leonard and Terry Strickland.

Marie graduated from Gold Sand High School and Louisburg College. Following college, she worked with the federal government until her retirement.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm at Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg. Visitation will follow the service.
