GOLDSBORO - Daisy Shephard Britt, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. A service to celebrate her life was held at Pilot Baptist Church on Sunday, Aug. 31. A private burial followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.

She was born in Richmond County to Willie Shephard and Annie Richards. She was preceded in death by her parents, two older sisters, her younger brother and her baby daughter, Lorene.

Prior to moving to North Carolina, Daisy and her husband, Melvin, lived in Baltimore, Md., where they raised their family. In North Carolina, she worked as a sewing plant supervisor. She was a member of Pilot Baptist Church.

Surviving: husband, Melvin Roland Britt; sons, Roland (Jamie) of Raleigh, Robert (Andrea) of Goldsboro, and Denny, (Linda) of Edgewater, Fla.; sister, Kate Gardner of Siler City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
