LOUISBURG - Larry J Voorhees, 74, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at his home in Lake Royale. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at Calvary's Cross Baptist Church, with Pastor Martin Pinell officiating.

He was born in Winfield, Kan., to the late Paul J. and Mildred Cantrell Voorhees. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces "Green Berets" in the Vietnam War. He was retired from oil and gas explorations in Texas and also was a member of Calvary's Cross Baptist Church.

Surviving: wife, Eugenia "Jean" Long Voorhees; sons, Eric of Louisburg, Lance of Abilene, Tex., and Blake of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Trudy Voorhees Box; a brother, Randy Voorhees (Marion), all of Abilene, Tex.
