LOUISBURG - William "Bill" Fred Spencer, Jr., 89, of Louisburg, died Wednesday morning at his home.

Mr. Spencer was the son of the late Willie and Emma Spencer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Annette S. Newton. He was a member of Louisburg Baptist Church, the James A. Johnson Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion Post 105. He was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served in the 40th infantry in the Pacific.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Louisburg Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Violet F. Spencer; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda S. and Wayne Parrish of Louisburg; grandchildren, Julie Loftin and husband, Spencer; Jacob Parrish and wife, Mary; great-grandchildren, Ashton and Amber Leonard; Jackson and Emma Kate Parrish.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 730, Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Tomlinson Room of Louisburg Baptist Church and other times at the home of Glenda and Wayne Parrish.
