CAROLYN JANE "CJ" SMITH

CAROLYN JANE "CJ" SMITH

FRANKLINTON - Carolyn Jane "CJ" Smith, 60, of Franklinton, NC, peacefully became one of God's angels on Saturday, December 6, 2014 after a challenging year with metastasized breast cancer. Born in Halifax County, NC, daughter of the late Mack Ray and Martha Jane Flora Smith. Carolyn was a loving wife, stepmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Carolyn dedicated her life to her family, friends and work. After briefly attending Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC, Carolyn spent 20 years with Farm Credit Bank PCA. For the past 15 years Carolyn was a member of the K-Flex USA family as their Credit Manager. While working at K-Flex, she obtained the National Association of Credit Management (NACM) designation of Credit Business Associate (CBA).

Carolyn was a loving, caring and selfless person who lived her life by always placing the needs of others far before any need of her own. Even until the end, she was more concerned with others taking care of themselves and their responsibilities instead of worrying over her. She never met a stranger and will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. During her lifetime, Carolyn was passionate about her furry babies, the outdoors and enjoying life with those she loved.

Carolyn is survived by her wife of 20 years, Robin Elizabeth MacMillan; stepson, Matthew Daniel DeLoach of North Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Martha Ann "M-A" Smith Moran & husband, Jim "BRO" of Wendell; brother, Charles Ray Smith of Halifax County; nieces, Ashley Moran Warner & husband Walt, Dara Moran Hodge & husband Anthony; nephews, Bo Moran & wife Kelly, Cameron Smith & wife Amy; great-nieces, Hayden Warner, Jordan Hodge, Karolina Moran, Kasey Smith, Erin Smith; great-nephews, J.R. Moran and Austin Smith; furry children, Sydney Lorraine, Murphy, Pewter, ALLEN, Mary, Hillary, and Jasper. At the Rainbow Bridge she will reunite with Wolfe, Licorice, Scout, Caesar, Sam-Sam and Brewster.

The family sends heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nirav Dhruva and staff of Rex Cancer Center of Wakefield, Dr. Robert Lacin and staff at Rex Neurosurgery & Spine Specialists, Dr. Carey Anders and her team at UNC Cancer Hospital as well as the nurses and staff from Rex Hospital (Five East) and Transitions Life Care for their care and support during Carolyn's journey.

In lieu of flowers, because neither she nor Robin have green thumbs, Carolyn requests memorial contributions be made to Franklin County Humane Society, PO Box 338, Youngsville, NC 27596 (she thinks this will prevent Robin from adopting more fur babies) or Rex Cancer Center of Wakefield, c/o Rex Healthcare Foundation, 2500 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 325, Raleigh, NC 27607.

The family will celebrate Carolyn's life just as she would have wanted, with a party at the family's home, 112 North Pastures Trail, Franklinton, NC on Saturday, December 13, at 4 PM.
