LORRAINE R. ALBRITTON


FRANKLINTON --Lorraine R. Albritton, 84, of New York, N. Y., formerly of Franklinton, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 16, at First United Church of Christ, Franklinton, with the Rev. Douglas Wooten Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Franklinton.

She was born to the late Carver and Annettha Guess Kearney of Franklinton, the youngest of five siblings. She was educated in the public school system of Franklin County.

She worked for the Human Resources Ad-ministration, Crisis Intervention Services of the City of New York for almost 20 years as a crisis intervention specialist. She received numerous awards, honors, and certificates of achievement, including those from former New York mayor Edward Koch, City Council members, and other city and government officials. She was the chairperson of the Advisory Committee of Henry Street Settlement's Mental Health Clinic, the Community Consultation Center, and held that position for nearly 20 years. She also served many roles at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in New York, where she remained a member for over 40 years.

Surviving: husband, Fred Albritton of New York, N.Y.; daughters, Brenda Davis (Ronald Sr.) of Bowie, Md., Sibyl Wright (Elton) of Upper Marlboro, Md., Wanda Brown (Marlon Sr.) of Charlotte, and Carol Perez (Roberto) of New York, N.Y.; granddaughter, Tameika Albritton of New York, whom she raised; brother, Edward Kearney (Estelle) of Washington, D.C.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
