SPRINGFIELD, MO - Thomas Albert "Tadpole" Phelps, age 78, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 in Springfield, Missouri. Born February 28, 1937 in Louisburg, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Tommie J. and Mozelle Shearin Phelps. Thomas was a retired truck driver.

Surviving are his three sons, Mike, Carey Lee and Greg of Springfield, Missouri; a special friend and caregiver, Carla of Springfield; sister, Frances Phelps Joyner; brothers, Curtis Phelps and wife Nell of Four Oaks, North Carolina, Douglas Phelps and wife Eleanor of Toms River, New Jersey, Jimmy Phelps and wife Yvonne, and Jerry Phelps and wife Donna of Henderson, North Carolina; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Thomas's beloved dog, Rocky, was his best friend for 17 years.

Graveside services will be held on April 25 at 11 a.m. at Flat Rock Baptist Church cemetery, Louisburg. Following the service, visitation in remembrance of Thomas will be held at the American Legion Hut in Franklinton, NC.
