LOUISBURG - Boyd Alvin Phillips, 72, died Friday, May 15, 2015. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 19, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral & Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park in Louisburg.

Born in Arkansas, he was the son of Austin Phillips and Velmalene Willmon Phillips. Soon after high school he enrolled in the U.S. Navy. Following his career in the Navy, he returned to school and earned a degree in engineering and business. He worked as an engineer for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired after more than 30 years of combined military and government service.

Surviving: daughters, Dineen Bethke and Nancy Faye Phillips; son, Brett Alan Phillips; and one granddaughter.
